"Connection is why we're here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives."

Rebecca Coombes Counselling

Connection comes in many forms, and is the key to working through life’s challenges. It helps us heal, grow, and feel more secure, whole and authentic as humans. Connecting with those around us, and ourselves, can be challenging and confronting, especially during times of hardship. Many of us don’t know where to begin.

For some, seeking support can be intimidating. However, the counselling process isn’t about changing or “fixing” you, but instead about having someone walk alongside, and guide you, in your experience. You are the expert in your life.

As part of our therapeutic relationship, we will work together to repair and build strong connections with others, and with yourself. Our sessions are a safe and non-judgmental space for you to ask questions and seek clarification. You will be guided with empathy and kindness to deepen your self awareness, and explore effective strategies to assist you in working towards your goals.

Together, we can work through:

Bereavement,
Grief and Loss

One of the most painful experiences we can face as a human is the loss of someone or something important to us. The stronger the emotional connection, the stronger the grief experience can be. This can be extremely challenging to navigate, but you do not have to do it alone.

Relationship
Challenges

All relationships have their ups and downs. At some point or another, we may find ourselves confronted with difficult conversations, and this can be challenging when our emotions take over. Having a safe space to explore all aspects of this is crucial in maintaining healthy, strong and connected relationships.

Communication
Breakdown

When we are young, we learn coping and communication strategies which we carry through to adulthood. Sometimes, we find these strategies no longer serve us. Opening up to the opportunity of developing new strategies supports us to reach out and connect meaningfully with others.

Building
Self-Awareness

When we feel disconnected from ourselves or others, we can struggle to feel loved, valued or worthy. Introspection asks us to reflect and become acquainted with our strengths, challenges, values, emotions and hopes, without judgment, to reconnect with ourselves and, in turn, with others.

Family
Dynamics

Families are complicated. For some they may be positive, for others they may be negative, but for many of us, they are a combination of both. By opening ourselves up to consciously explore the complexities of family dynamics, we can learn a lot about ourselves and the role we play in its structures.
