Pre-Marriage Counselling
Based on extensive research, the Prepare/Enrich program provides an opportunity for couples to understand their strengths and identify areas for growth as a couple. “Prepare” is for couples who are making a commitment to a long-term relationship, and is often undertaken pre-marriage. “Enrich” is for couples at any stage in their relationship, who feel it would be beneficial to reflect on and develop new strategies to support their relationship further.
Prepare/Enrich is a structured program that is conducted over a number of sessions. Each partner completes an online questionnaire about their relationship, which covers a range of topics, such as:
- Communication
- Conflict and resolution
- Partner style
- Finances
- Intimacy and sex
- Family and friends
- Spiritual beliefs
Once both partners have completed the questionnaire, a session will be organised to reflect on the results. This questionnaire is not designed to test your relationship, but rather highlight areas of strength and areas for growth.
During the subsequent sessions, we will discuss your growth areas as identified in the questionnaire. You will be guided through activities that have been specifically designed to facilitate conversations around these topics, and supported to develop strategies within these sessions that can then be applied to your relationship.
Clients will be provided with a hardcopy activity workbook and a copy of questionnaire results.
So how does Prepare/Enrich differ from relationship counselling?
Prepare/Enrich is a structured, assessment-based program that can assist you and your partner in identifying the strengths in your relationship, as well as areas for improvement and growth. On the other hand, Relationship Counselling is a flexible approach that is responsive to the specific challenges of your circumstances. Whilst Prepare/Enrich follows a specific timeline and structure, the option to move to Relationship Counselling after completing the Prepare/Enrich sessions is available.
